HSToday invitation to participate in National Insider Threat Awareness Month

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday!

 

As you may have heard, I have joined the Editorial Board of Homeland Security to continue to champion the safety of our nation’s digital and physical infrastructure.  That being said, they asked me to jump right in and lead the first National Insider Threat Month initiative with our readership!

 

My successor, the Acting Director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center has issued his letter of endorsement for the third annual National Insider Threat Awareness Month that begins September 1, 2021. 

 

To coincide with that, Homeland Security Today invites you to submit your pieces on how you safeguard your enterprise through best practices or case study examples of detecting, deterring, and/or mitigating insider threats.  

 

I invite you to share with our community YOUR experiences with insider threat:  perhaps a rogue employee?  A new insider threat program you put in place?  A look at the process you went through to develop and implement an insider threat plan?  A lesson you learned about insider threats? All of these will help our community grow stronger and more resilient against this significant vulnerability.

 

How might you participate?

• Submit a thought leadership piece on lessons learned, a novel strategy you employed, areas of concerns you’d like the community to discuss to editor@HSToday.us;
• Suggest thought leaders that HSToday should reach out to for articles, or to join us in this communication;
• Repost HSToday insider threat articles on your linkedin feed. Daily we have original, compelling pieces from some of the most esteemed voices in homeland security. Share those on your linkedin feed to encourage comments and conversation from our community.
• Sign up for HSToday newsletters to read all the submissions (in case you haven't already) at www.HSToday.us.

 

In early October, Homeland Security Today will send you a compilation of all the stories submitted from 2019 AND 2020, providing you with a library of ideas and experiences to draw on the entire year.
